British Museum. One of the most famous museums in the world houses some of the most impressive pieces of human history from all over the world. Among over 7 million of artefacts from all over the world you will also be able to see some of the finest pieces of history from ancient Egypt, Greece, Roman Empire and the Middle East. The museum is located in the Bloomsbury district and is open every day from 10 am to 5:30 pm. The entrance is free of charge for all visitors.
National Gallery. If you like arts, then you must not miss the National Gallery housing some of the finest Western European artworks from the 13th to the 19th centuries. You can find it on the famous Trafalgar Square, while the visit will not cost you a penny. You can explore its jewels every day from 10 am to 6 pm and until 9 pm on Fridays.
Natural History Museum. One of the top London’s attractions is truly an absolute must-see even if you usually do not visit natural history museums. Its collection consists of about 70 million objects among which are particularly interesting the remains of the dinosaurs and specimens that were collected by Charles Darwin. You can visit Natural History Museum daily (except 24 - 26 December) from 10 am to 5:50 pm. It is located in the central London’s district South Kensington-Chelsea. The entrance is free of charge.
Tate Modern. One of the finest modern art galleries in the world is an absolute must-see for London visitors who also like art. Its enormous collection consists of some of the finest pieces of modern and contemporary art from all over the world. The gallery is located in the former Bankside Power Station in the Bankside district in central London and can be visited daily free of charge. It is open from 10 am to 6 pm from Sunday to Thursday and from 10 am to 10 pm from Friday to Saturday.
Tate Britain. The oldest in the chain of Tate galleries houses an impressive collection of British art from the 15th century onwards. It is located in the City of Westminster in the very heart of London. It can be visited from Saturday to Thursday from 10 am until 6 pm and until 10 pm from Friday to Saturday. The entry is free.
You also will not regret visiting the National Portrait Gallery, Victoria and Albert Museum, Science Museum and the Greenwich Heritage Centre. The admission to the mentioned museums is free of charge as well. Please keep in mind that temporary exhibitions are never free in any London museum and gallery.
